yum yum.

these are my 1st few attempts in crocheting amigurumis. it looks pretty intimidating but as long as you can understand the lingo, you're done before you know it. ^_^ the pear pattern comes from "amigurumi world" by ana paula rimoli. the little fried egg pattern is also hers. she has many other patterns available for free on her blog, so check it out. the little fried egg was made especially for the gal that just LOVES eggs - jemmie!

bookbinding.

we took a trip to paper source in pasadena on friday night & bought all our supplies for our craft day.  jessie was organized that she even had a shopping list for us. (she was also our instructor.)  today, we created drop spine boxes and it was so neat to see how different each box was.  i love how talented and creative all these ladies are!  jems and i also made a 2nd box - she made one for the baby shower & i wanted to try a different size.  i definitely want to make more in the future.

fruit roll up. (ixnay on the fruit)

i have been wanting to make a tool belt for crafts but i put a different spin on it.  i have constructed a roll-up crochet needle & accessory organizer.  first i crocheted a skein of yarn 30 sc across (took me about 1 hr a day for the past 3 days).  then i sewed together two different fabrics, one descending from left to right. then i sewed stitches enough to make compartments for all the nifty little gizmos i have for crocheting. then voila!  to secure the roll, i sewed a ribbon that i just double knot together.

my valentine softie contest submission.

this is what i submitted to sewing mama's valentine softie contest.

the nursery.

my 30-week ultrasound showed me that i am due a week earlier than anticipated so this weekend has been dedicated to finishing up all of the nursery to do's.  so far, my hubby & i have gotten a lot accomplished.  ^_^  this weekend i was able to sew a blanket, reupholster the glider, and hang up her name.

afghan update.

DUNZO! the silk edge to the afghan is finished. i struggled a bit with sewing it because i had horrible, cheapy thread. thanks to jessie for her advice on sewing it. ^_^ it's not perfect but it's made with love. not bad for my 1st time. i may add a felt design as long as needle felting works with yarn. i'm motivated to make more crochet (& maybe knitting) creations especially after visiting unwind in burbank. a few upcoming crafts include: my valentines contest submission, sewing a baby blanket, reupholstering my glider & making a few projects from amy butler's sew-it kit.

ava's mobile.

all of my crafting has been centered around the nursery.  i wanted to make a vintage bird mobile for her nursery.  i even had help from ninang tiff to make these birds come to life.
